Adaptive Traffic Signal Optimization with Thermal Sensors and Reinforcement Learning

By framing traffic control as a Markov Decision Process, the study shows how real-time sensor data and RL can reduce delays by up to 38% compared to fixed-time plans, with potential for further improvements in multi-intersection coordination. |
